6 Must needed Dropbox Replay Suggestions from a Video Editor/Manager

6 Must needed Dropbox Replay Suggestions from a Video Editor/Manager

Hi there, we've moved over from frame.io and are really enjoying how fast it is to check content using replay, I would like to suggest a few improvements.

1. Have the whole video area as a big play/pause button rather than the audio draw function, this makes it easier when switching from commenting to playing the content. Suggesting to make it how youtube works, and frame.io. If you want to draw, which for us is quite rare and the feedback is normally written, then you click on the draw button and then the video becomes something you can draw on.

2. BUG, when you edit a comment, the cursor auto switches to the beginning of the text - please change this so it's at the end.

3. When commenting, please make it so when you press 'Enter' it sends the comment and if you want a new line then you press shift+enter, how you usually would on a instant messenger. And give a tickbox option to change for those users who prefer the other way.

4. Email notifications - please allow somewhere where we can turn these emails off.

5. Desktop notifications - it's a generic notification that comes in that says 'Stuff they said...', change this so that 1. those notifications can be controlled and also what is written comes up as an actual notification and not something generic
6. Feature request - on frame io you could export the file as an xml and import it into final cut pro x, please bring in this functionality.

Thank you,

Preetcharan Singh

very curious that Dropbox Replay has no integration yet with FCPX ... 🤔

Hi Preetcharan,

Thank you so much for your list of recommendations, I love the idea of having finer control for power users and we need to squash that bug for sure!

I will take these to the Replay team.

Thanks again.

Hi,

The comments from replay are not showing up in Final Cut Pro. Neither with drag and drop nor by exporting/importing the xml file. Just the name of the person who made the post is displayed but not the text. I'm using FCP 10.6.8 and MacOS 13.5. Any idea?

Thanks!

Trying to use the Dropbox Replay integration inside of Final Cut Pro. The FCPXML files give me errors upon trying to import them, and using the integration directly inside of FCPX won't let me drag the comments into the timeline like the info article about the integration says.

Anyone else running into this? I'm on MacOS 13.5 running FCP 10.6.8.

Hi,

I have the same issue with Replay in FCP. The xml import works, also with dragging, but no comments are visible, only the name of the sender is in the marker. Thinking switching from frameIO to Replay but not possible this way.. (MacOS 13.5 /FCP 10.6.8.)

Hi @hubbit @filmcom , so sorry to hear you are running into issues. I have recorded this Capture to show what the drag and drop functionality should look like when working.  I'll note that we've noticed some strange behavior with certain files that have emojis in the comments that we're looking into on our end.  Can you confirm you are taking these same steps and still running into issues?  Also, do the comments on the files you are trying to use contain emojis.
