22GB Quota Earned Through Referring is Reset Back to 2GB

22GB Quota Earned Through Referring is Reset Back to 2GB

Explorer | Level 3

Hi guys!

I had 22GB as my personal Dropbox account space. I collected this quota a few years back by referring a few of my friends to join Dropbox as well through a join link I gave.
All of a sudden this additional quota has been removed and got reset back to the preliminary 2GB quota and now it shows as 571.1% full on Dropbox dashboard.

Why did this happen and please let me know how to reset it back to the 22GB quota I had.

Hey @nirm2009, let's see what we can find on this together.

Just to make sure that we're on the same page, could you confirm if you've made sure that you're looking at the same account that should have these referrals?

You can double-check this by having a look at the email address that's associated with your account:

  • Website - your General tab in your Settings.
  • Desktop app - Dropbox icon > avatar icon > Preferences > Account tab.
  • Mobile app - Account tab (iOS) or Settings (Android).

Let me know what you find, thanks!

Hey @Lusil,

This is what's visible on the Android app.

And what is your account's plan tab reporting regarding your quota @nirm2009? Do you see any sign of the referrals you mentioned?

Could it be that you have another account with another email address of yours?

@Walterit shows the same thing.

Your personal Dropbox account is full   Using 11.49GB of 2.25GB

Standard files(11.49GB)   Shared files (0 bytes)

Typed since the photo won't upload due to size restrictions.

If you can't find any log of any promotional space there and based on your quota's breakdown @nirm2009, it seems like you're looking at a different account.

Keep us posted!

@WalterI'm not looking at another account. I checked on that.

I'll be switching to another service that offers a much more initial quota than a mere 2GB.

Thanks for the help but the issue remains unresolved.

You could also try checking www.dropbox.com/events to see what that say.

Note that its only possible to gain 16gb of referrals via Dropbox for free users (32 referrals at 500mb each).
