Can a password be hacked by brute force

Can a password be hacked by brute force

Hi Everyone.

I wonder if a dropbox account password can be easily hack by brute force?

After several attemps, does dropbox warns us? Block the account?

thanks for your help.

Hi @Raiden; thanks for posting on our Community!

To directly get to the chase, yes, in the case of a brute force attack as you put it, the account will get blocked (and will give an error upon a login attempt) due to rate limiting and will be reset after 24 hours.

In any case, we'd recommend using a secure password or even two step authentication which adds an extra layer of security to your account.

I hope this information helps!

Thanks for the reply.
Can you tell me when Dropbox started sending emails for new connection?

Are you referring to notifications about a new login via a web browser @Raiden?

As mentioned in your previous thread with this question, Dropbox has been sending such notifications for years.

Considering how long it's been, it's unlikely that they can provide an exact date. One of my accounts was created in 2017, and it was receiving the notifications from the time it was created.
