Change email on my second account

Change email on my second account

Helpful | Level 5

Hi I seem to have got myself into a Catch-22 situation. My old email address was [Removed as per Community Guidelines]. My new one is [Removed as per Community Guidelines]. For years they have been synonymous - it was the ISP who changed its name - and either address would reach me. Now the ISP is making me choose between the two - the other will be blocked. So i was updating my Dropbox account to reflect my preference. I find that I actually have managed over the years to set up two accounts - one under each address. I also find that the contents of the two accounts are different and I wish to keep both. I cannot change the ibl.bm account to logic.bm because that latter address is already in use. Can you help me sort this out. I want both sets of content available to me under [Removed as per Community Guidelines] and the [Removed as per Community Guidelines] account deleted.

Hi Jay,

Thank you for your advice. I did play around with your suggestion but got so confused that I ended up downloading everything in my Dropbox to my PC. I then moved everything I wanted to retain out of my Dropbox folder to an "archive" folder. I then removed everything from Dropbox.

Next time I log on I will use my new email address and start over. This sorted my problem

Thanks again,

Peter

Hi @Peter Nash, thanks for messaging the Community!

Currently, it isn't possible to merge personal accounts, however, you can move files from one account to another.

If you want to keep the files separate., it might be best to change the old email to another address that you own (which isn't already associated with a Dropbox account), so that you can continue accessing the Dropbox account in future.

Hope this helps!
