Deleting the account of a deceased person

Deleting the account of a deceased person

Explorer | Level 3

I am attempting to delete the account of my father, who died three years ago.   His Dropbox account is linked to his desktop computer, which I have inherited.   I am unable to delete the account using the option within Settings as I do not know the password.   The email account linked to his Dropbox account no longer exixts.  I cannot locate any contact details for Dropbox support, to request assistance from them.   Can anyone signpost me to Dropbox support, or suggest anything else?

Are you certain the account still exists? Accounts that are idle for more than a year are deleted due to inactivity.

So sorry to hear of your loss @AlistairW

As @Rich said accounts get automatically deleted so, being honest, I wouldnt worry too much about it if he wasnt on a paid account.

Many thanks for the replies.   The account definitely still exists as I have been able to access it recently.   There were many files in the account, which I deleted yesterday.  The account is now empty and nothing is syncing to it.   So, if I leave the account in that state, will it be automatically be deleted after a period of time?
