ooohhh...it's a selective syncing that i need to fix...there were quite a few folders that i 'need' but not on a daily basis. I can still access through dropbox but don't need 24/7 access which snycs to my dropbox/hard drive...okay 🙂

Hey linda d.13

Thanks for reaching out about this query on the Dropbox Community, we’ll have this sorted in no time!

Please keep in mind that the Dropbox folder takes up physical space on your computer, meaning that the files are both available online and on your device, locally. If you’d like your files to be online-only, without taking up any physical space on your hard disc drive, please use the Selective Sync feature.

If you need further assistance on that, please let me know in your reply!

Happy Dropboxing,

JaneA

After getting a low memory warning, (I'm a photographer with lots of photos) I shifted most of the folders that were on my desktop into dropbox, not remembering that they would be synching to my hard drive. Obviously, that didn't free up any space. So I went to selective synch and turned it off on all folders and deleted or moved the folders on my hard drive. Now I'm getting a deleted files message from DB. I hope I have not deleted any files from the web-stored dropbox! How can I check?

Hey robertweaston

Thanks for getting back in touch!

If you had deleted these files, that were already uploaded on the Dropbox website, locally on your computer, these remain safe on our servers.

If there were deletions, you 'd able to detect and undo them on your Events page, where you are given the option to "Restore" files.

I'm here for additional help, if such is needed, though. Looking forward to your reply!

Warm regards,
JaneA
