Patrick - I am pretty sure Windows 2008 is not a supported OS on Dropbox. Windows 2000 certainly isnt supported any more (nor is it supported by MS).

Hi Mark,

Dropbox always displays this message:

Downloading file list...
Creating index...
Upload 5.405 files...

But never progresses from there, and after a time the program closes the but Thanks for your time!

Try and unlink and a relink of the client.

If not (as its a huge volume of data) I'd be tempted to move some of it out of the folder for awhile and upload in smaller chunks.

I actually have the same problem: Windows Server 2008 R2.

Each time I reboot the machine, Dropbox starts up, and syncs for maybe a minute or so, progresses and uploads a lot of file that hadn't been.  But then after that short burst of actual activity goes into this dormant state where nothing is happening, and the message on the icon remains the same.. xxx number of files remaining... for days/weeks/etc.  Until I reboot again, and same thing happens... stuck again after a minute or so.

It worked fine for a long time until about 2-3 months ago.  Then it started behaving like this: sync for a minute, and then hang.
