Email INFORMING that plan is changing

I have just received an email saying:

Just a quick reminder: on November 15, 2019, your plan is changing to $119.88 a year (plus any applicable taxes). 

It then describes the perks of DropBox Plus.

I presently have DropBox Basic and I haven't used half the available GB...

Do you think why this is happening. Can they force this change on me?

Hello Margherita - how are you today?

As we won't be able to charge you without you explicitly giving us access to your billing information and ordering a paid plan of ours - don't worry.

That being said, I'm guessing that this email is referring to another account of yours but just to make sure, could you check if you received this email to the email address that is associated with your free, Basic account? 

First, you can check your account's email address here:

https://www.dropbox.com/account

....and then check to which exact email address this specific email came. 

Also make sure it's coming from one of our official domains listed below as it might be a well-elaborated scam/phishing attack:

https://help.dropbox.com/accounts-billing/security/official-domains 

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there @playersringNH

That being said, I'm guessing that this email is referring to another account of yours but just to make sure, could you check if you received this email to the email address that is associated with your free, Basic account? 

First, you can check your account's email address here:

....and then check to which exact email address this specific email came. 

Also make sure it's coming from one of our official domains listed below as it might be a well-elaborated scam/phishing attack:

I received the same just now, but with the date set for february: "Just a quick reminder:on February 6, 2020, your plan is changing to €119.88 a year (plus any applicable taxes)."

I have only one account on that emailadress  -and that is Basic (free). I used to have another paid account. But I am not accepting a conversion from a free underused 2GB to the paid account.  Is this a mistake or an actual conversion away from Basic (free)?

Hi @Bjorn01 - welcome aboard!

Can you first clarify on which email address you've received the said email?

Is it for the one you had upgraded in the past or the one that is connected to your free, Basic account?

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

On a side note, could you check if this email was sent by an official domain of ours?

Its for the one connected to my free Basic account. I have checked the sender - its dropbox.com

After checking accounts and relations to email-adresses with help from Walter I found that this was my mistake. The notificaton was related to an account I already am paying for. That is now upgraded to a new plan that cost me more as the notification said, and I am not to happy about that. 

But it was not a "free" beiing upgraded to a paying account without my knowledge. 

Case closed 🙂
