I currently have two dropbox accounts. This happened because of my lack of experience many years ago. I have continued to have access to both. Due to a series of circumstances one of the accounts is no longer available to me because the email address associated with that account was hacked and is now shut off. I have one dropbox account I have no access to.

For the account linked with the closed email address, did you also forget the password for the Dropbox account? Can you login online?
Do you happen to have any devices connected with this account through the apps, or a web session that's still signed in?

It sounds like you're getting sent a one-time security code, which is sent when Dropbox deems a login attempt as being suspicious.
Can you just confirm for me if you have any devices connected to your account through the apps?
This way, we might be able to open the account online so the email address can be updated.

Please just make sure to enter an email address that you have access to as your contact email.
