i want to link a new device
but my account exceeds 3 linked device limit
my 5 linked devices:
macbook.local
macbook - linked 2x - device names different (variations of my personal name) - verions & IP addresses different
ipad - linked 2x - device names same (my personal name) - verions & IP addresses different
note: i've only ever used 2 devices: 1 macbook & 1 ipad
question1: why 5 linked devices ?
question2: which devices to unlink ?

If you've ever reinstalled the OS on your MacBook or the Dropbox app on your iPad, they could appear as multiple devices.
question2: which devices to unlink ?
The Security page should show you which devices were used most recently. If only two show recent times, those are the two to keep. Unlink the rest. When in doubt, unlink them all and just relink the devices you actually have.

Hi there. Dropping in to hijack this thread.
I'm having a similar issue and I'm not finding a way to contact DropBox about the problem. Video is linked below with the exact problem. I can't install on my formatted system because I can't remove the older devices.
I'm having this same issue... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88iaw8zMX0o&feature=youtu.be
Hi @khat17 & @nickydragon; thanks for joining our Community and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Assuming that you're under the 3 device limit, you shouldn't be having an issue with this so if you could provide a screenshot of the exact error you get, I'd be glad to look into this for you.
Just note that you can see the list of your connected devices and remove any you don't use or need from the following page:
Let me know what you find!

Hi, I figured it out. You have to unlink "all Paper devices" first. Probably worth calling it a bug :bug:
