I keep getting notifications from Dropbox saying that I am almost out of space, but my actual usage is less than 50% full. How do I stop the messages and turn off the message number on the Dropbox icon?

Thank you!

Thanks for the added info @cm58

The "1" symbol you see there indicates you have an unread notification. It's not a space warning.

You can check for the notification by clicking on the icon itself, and make sure all the notifications are up to date.

Can you give this a go?

Hey @cm58, thanks for posting your question here!

Do you receive notifications on the Dropbox desktop application?

If so, can you open the app's Preferences, and check under the Account tab?

Can you confirm that the Dropbox account linked to the app is the same one you use online?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.

Lori, Thank you for responding. It appears the account is linked correctly. When I click on the account tab I see that I have used 41.3% of my capacity, yet I still have a warning symbol on my Dropbox icon. Anything else I should check?

Thanks for letting me know more @cm58!

Feel free to send me a screenshot of the warning symbol you see, so I can have a clear visual on this.

Thanks!

I also have these false notifications! "Dropbox almost full!" I have 82%, 10,7 out of 13 GB is far from full.
I'm guessing that this an aggressive marketing strategy to desperately try to sell more storage in order to not lose clients to Google or Microsoft and to get more revenue, but it's too aggressive!

I'm considering a re-arrangement in my storage workflow but these "spams" makes me unwilling to support Dropbox even though I've been a user since the beginning. I'm not a fan of too many unnecessary notifications.

So please, tone it down. After some clicks around the preference I find a "View more settings on dropbox.com" where I find an alert for "I'm running out of space". Why can't I have in the the apps preference? It feels a bit weird. Could you add a slider for that option so I can choose at what percentage or GB I want to be notified? That would reduce the numbers of unwanted "spam"-messages from you.

Cheers!
