Forgot password and usename is old cannot access/email

New member | Level 2

Hi!  I purchased a new phone and installed app.  The username (email address) is old and I don't use it anymore.  I also forgot the password since I use fingerprint ID.  How can I access my files (I still can on my old phone) update the username and retrieve old password to access on my new phone?

Thanks

Jason

Hi there @Argonaut1, thanks for reaching out to us here!

As a first step, I can suggest checking out this article to see if the steps there help at all.

Since you no longer have access to the old email account, it would be difficult to reset the password.

However, since you mentioned using fingerprint ID on your old phone where you're still signed in, the device should have your password saved there.

If you're not sure about the steps to find the saved passwords, you can do a quick web search based on the device to locate that info.

If you can recover the password from there, you can use it to sign in on the new device and even change the email linked with your Dropbox account to an email that you have access to.

Let me know if this helps!
