Help in deleting old files I dont need

Explorer | Level 3

Hi, I didn't renew my dropbox prescription because I cannot work anymore. I have been diagnosed of terminal stage pancreatic cancer recently. I need to store my files in an external drive but I did not do it before I cancelled my subscription to Dropbox plus, two weeks ago. I was told that I will still have access to my files but I can no longer upload new files and syncing new files will stop. Totally fine with me as I no longer work. All I want to do is have access to my Dropbox basic so I can delete old files I dont need and transfer important files to an external drive. My son- who will most likely take on my work in the future, may need my materials.

Thanks for your help.

Hey Cecilia (@bgydicdiquin), admittedly I’m lost for words here, I’m sorry to hear about what you’ve going through & I’m here to help you as much as I can on my end handing your work-related content over to your son.

While I can’t see your account-specifics here for security reasons Cecilia, I can confirm that your files should remain intact on your account online after the downgrade. It’s my understanding that your connected devices aren’t syncing any longer, so at the moment your best bet to get going with the file transfer would be downloading your files using our website in smaller batches.

(Note: Kindly bear in mind that you can download the contents of an entire Dropbox folder via dropbox.com, as long as the folder is less than 20 GB in total size & it has fewer than 10,000 total files.)

From there, I’ve also made sure to run a search on our system, I’ve located your open support request & I can see that you’re in an open discussion with my colleague via this channel. I’ve made sure to include a copy of your comments, in order to gather all relevant details in one email chain. Please include all additional account-specific questions you may have on that discussion, as they have direct access to your account on our tools & rest assured that you’re in safe hands.

I hope that this gets resolved soon for you & I’m always here in case you’d need further assistance in any way!
