How can I just separate my account from a client's account?

New member | Level 2

Hi ...

So a client invited me to her dropbox using the same email I use for my paid 2tb account. when I received the invite I was given two options 1) combine files or 2) keep accounts separate. My first reaction was to go for "keep things separate" but nowhere within the next prompt did it asked me to login with my existent account. It forced me to create a new account... so I went back and combine but now I can't find my own paid account I got a "free 2gb acct" Could someone tell me how can I separate these two accounts? I'm anxious and terrified to look at how many files I probably lost in this stupid process. I don't understand why something so simple because such a **bleep** ty process.

Hey @jeeniejolie, I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with this!

If you chose to combine your account with your clients Business team, then all of your files and data will be in your account under the same email address that was invited.

You should be able to sign into that account and within the purple folder with your name, you'll see all your personal files.

To revert your account back to a personal account, the admin of the team will need to remove you from the team and choose to convert you back to an individual account.

You can find the admin of the team with the steps here, and you can ask them to follow the steps to remove you correctly from here.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
