How can I see the folder size on dropbox.com

Dropboxer

Hi all!

I have great news! The long waited request for the ability to see folder sizes on web (dropbox.com) is now live!

To enable it
  • Open dropbox.com and go to 'files'
  • On your file/folder view, click on the arrow-down Modified’ and select Size’
  • Click on the arrow-down Modified’ and select Size’

  • Then click on the folder you want to calculate the size

  • Click on Calculate size” (on the right-hand side, last link)

Voilá:
If you select more than one folder the 'Calculate size' option will not appear. The 'Calculate size' option will only appear if the 'Size' column is displayed.

(idea) Seeing the size of a particular file or folder

I couldn't find a more suitable place or category for putting ideas, so I guess doing it here is the best option.

Let's say you're out of space for your dropbox. You want to remove as much unused or unneeded data as you can, and you likely want to start by removing the largest files or folders first. But currently, you cannot see the size of a specific file or folder, but only the total space occupied by your files. So being able to see its size would be helpful, right?

I agree.
Stop making things difficult, dropbox.

Same as Tyler J. I agree. Much needed feature along with a UI upgrade.

Hi is it possible to put the folder size on the web view? I know OneDrive has it and it comes in handy at the best of times.eers

viewing folder properties - size and number of files?

Could you please let me know how to view folder properties (size of files AND number of file)? This data will allow me to monitor whether all files have been successfully uploaded onto dropbox. I see that other people have asked similar questions. I will await an answer to this before uploading more files (and buying more storage).

Any advice/guidance is very much appreciated.

kind Regards

John

If you're referring to on the website, you can't. On your computer, just right-click the folder and view its properties.

Thanks for the feedback Rick. That's a shame. After uploading large quantities of files, it would be helpful to be able to compare the data on PC with Dropbox Cloud. Otherwise, is any other way of assessing whether all files have been successfully uploaded/copied from computer to cloud?

Kind Regards

John

That's what the status overlays are for.
