How do I change my email address to the one I actually have?

New member | Level 2

I have an old account associated to an e-mail, that is not valid any longer. Now Dropbox wants to change the code (security reasons) and send messages to the not existing mail address! So.....I can not any longer access my files. How do I change the mail address to my new (actual) address?

Hi @John Damgaard, thanks for joining the Community!

The only method to change the email on your account is to login to the account itself and make the change on this page.

If you don’t have access to the original email address, then it won’t be possible to reset the password for the account.

Hope this helps to clarify matters.

The problem is, that I have no longer access to the old account (e-mail address). Which was not a problem before Dropbox wanted to change the password ! How do I now change my e-mail address to my current address? In a way Dropbox has "stolen" all my files "because of security"! That is not fair! I

Could you try opening an incognito/private browsing window, while not signed into your account, and access this link

From there you should be able to contact support. Make sure to pick an email to which you can receive and send emails from. Thanks!
