How do I recover my original account after making a new one?

How do I recover my original account after making a new one?

I had one personal dropbox account but had to use it for work and I added my work email to the business team. Tried to separate my personal account from work but never figured out, now I no longer work there and my email was shut down immediately. I had to create a new account but was able to use my original personal email to sign up, is there a way to recover the files from my original account?

Hi @thuyanhastbury, thanks for reaching out to us. 

 

In general, if you are able to sign up, that means that the email address you used to create a new Dropbox account isn't associated with another/existing one. 

 

For this reason, just to make sure I understand correctly, you signed up for a new Dropbox account using your personal email which was associated with another?

 

Did you at any point in time change the email address that was connected to your personal account?

Now that I'm thinking about it. Is there actually a way to recover an account with an email I no longer have access to? My old account became merged with my work one and I suspect my former employers deleted my account. I suspect this since I was able to create a a new account using the same email as my old account. 

 

Please let me know if there is a way!

You can try contacting our team from this link, without being signed in to your account, to have a better look into this matter for you.

 

However, note that if you can’t access the email address associated with the Dropbox account in question, there's not much we can do to help you regain access.

 

If you do submit a ticket, let me know the ticket ID (eg. #1234567) associated with it so that I can pass your comments along to the member of my team who'll be reviewing this issue.
