How do I stop payments and get a refund for a Dropbox account?

New member | Level 2

I used 1tb before and now I don't need it. But my PayPal account shows that Dropbox payment 9.99$ was paid in July and June.
Please give my money back.

I dont think you will be able to get it back as you didnt cancel the subscription (you are emailed by PayPal saying that the money is going out and that it has).

You need to downgrade your account by following https://www.dropbox.com/help/billing/cancel-dropbox-plus to stop any future ones and ask Dropbox if they will do a refund for you (note that the T&C's say they dont).

www.dropbox.com/support will log the ticket
http://dropbox.zendesk.com to track

(Note - I dont think this post should have been moved here, they are not similar - this is a Personal account issue rather than every other one which is an issue to do with Business plans).

@Mark, I moved the post here since it's related to unexpected charges, even for Plus/Professional accounts. It was in the Business forum before, which wouldn't have been the right location to begin with.

Regarding your query @Tupikova, would it be okay to reach out to the email associated with your forum profile to investigate further? Otherwise, do you have a ticket number already after contacting our support team?

@Jay - then that thread should have been moved as its not comparable to these, at all. Its going to totally confuse people as this isnt an accidental charge its somebody who has forgotten/not realised to cancel a reoccuring Plus membership.

Merging them together is confusing and yet again making this place less and less customer orientated and more and more corporate and 'tick' hunting rather than for the end user who needs help.

Hi @ligbrondolphin, you most likely have a second Dropbox account which is using your credit card for the monthly payments.

Try using the credit card lookup tool to see if you can locate the account via the payments made. You can then cancel the monthly payment using the steps here.

Let me know if you were able to find and cancel it!

I got charged $99.00 this month and I don't need 2GB. I would like to reduce the amount stored, so I am not charged.

You need to cancel your subscription so it won't auto-renew in the future.

Since you've already been charged, you'll maintain your account benefits until the end of your current subscription period, at which time your account will be downgraded to a Basic account. In most cases, subscriptions are non-refundable.

Merely checking here @golions; were you able to resolve your concern in the end?
