How do we comply with GDPR?

We use DropBox for Business. We get the option to delete an active member from the admin console.
delete member

The deleted member then appears under the deleted list. In the deleted list, there is no option to fully remove the member from the organisation, we are still able to obtain files and activity records of a deleted member.

deleted usersThis goes against our privacy requirement. How can we completely remove a deleted member (including files and activity records)?

Hi Rajesh, this is by design in order to ensure that team admins can keep any data that the deleted user might have created on their personal account, including shared folders they owned.

If you need to permanently delete the data, you could transfer the files (using the manage files option) to yourself, and then delete the files from there.

Note however that the activity log cannot be erased or purged of that user.

Hi Jay,

Thanks for your response. How can we completely remove a deleted member? - this is related to "Art. 17 GDPR Right to erasure (‘right to be forgotten’)".

Best regards,

Rajesh Khanikar

I’d recommend contacting privacy@dropbox.com for more information as they’re better informed on that specific matter.
