I'm considering to upgrade my account and have some questions. Can you help?

New member | Level 2

hi, i'm a user of dropbox and have the Plus plan, with an extended version history. i'm considering upgrading my dropbox plan in order to achieve 2 abilities i currently don't have: 1) the ability to read OUTLOOK emails which i saved from my outlook to dropbox 2) the ability to have part of the folders i sync to dropbox as pasword-protected, while others remain open.

i don't need additional space nor any collaboration abilities.

can you recommend which plan provides these abilities?

thx, zk

No Dropbox plan include either of the features you are asking for. Sorry.

To read emails you've saved to Dropbox you need to download and install software which is capable of opening and reading them - this works on any plan.

thanks mark!

bummer...

so if i need to create the ability to protect part of the materials i have in dropbox, rather than paword-protected, what other alternatives you think i can use?

i can block access to the entire dropbox to all my employees and share specific folders to each one of them, however, this will be a tedious task, as there are many of these folders around. any better idea you can think of?

best, zk

If you want to share just some folders with employees then:

-Create a buisness account (you can then have 2 accounts on your machine - one private only you see and one business).

-Inside the business one everything is as it is now, private to you, unless you share it.

SO, once the business account is set up create the folder structure you want (say Finance, Admin, Marketing, Private) and share each folder with those who need it.

So 'Bob', as an example, can see Admin and Finance but not the others.

so if i upgrade to any of the business plans, i will have under my "new" business plan two diff. acocunts, each with a diff. user name and diff. password?

that should solve it.

super!

You cant have 2 business plans, but, you can have a Business and say a Pro/Plus or free one, yes.
