I signed up with my Google email and now my files are gone

Why can't I contact anyone?!

 

Anyway, I got a new computer and when it prompted me to sign in to Dropbox, I accidentally hit "sign in with Google." This is connected to a different email. I somehow got signed in again on the old email, but the Google email is listed as my "personal email" and all the files and folders are gone.

Thanks Jay, I solved it by deleting the dropbox app, signing in with my old account and re-downloading the dropbox folder to my computer.

Hi @bzfgt, thanks for messaging the Community!

 

It sounds like you signed into a completely email address on the Dropbox site, since the account should have your own files if the Google account was the same.

 

I'd like you to check the email and also look carefully for typos in any of these places:

  1. On your computer, click on the small Dropbox icon in your menu bar or system tray. Click on the ellipsis in the Notifications panel. Click on Preferences, then click on Account.
  2. On iOS, open your Dropbox app and tap on 'Account'. On Android, open your Dropbox app, tap on the Menu button, and then tap on 'Settings'.
  3. On the Dropbox website, click on your avatar or the face in the top right corner, then click Settings.
