Jumps to a business account

New member | Level 2

After months of working with a client and sharing files via dropbox, today it automatically logged me into a business account of a former client and uploaded the files there and I'm not an admin and can not delete the files.

I noticed it very quickly, but automatically uploaded the files

I logged out and it tried to log into the regular email it would show that email and password and then switch when I clicked log in to the business account. The email and password with change and log me in, after logging in the 2nd time it would work... I assume this how a Phishing website would work? or something equally as crazy

Dropboxer

Hi @jeff27; welcome to our Community and sorry to hear about this.

It sounds like your browser had your previous information stored and logged you into that account automatically. Have you cleared your browser's cache lately?

While we're at it, you can also use an incognito window with no extensions or plugins running or even another browser.

As for deleting the files you uploaded to the wrong account by accident, can you elaborate on what's happening when trying to delete them? Are you getting any errors specifically?

Let me know what you find!

it occurred when I clicked on a link to view a fold my client had uploaded and shared with me

no, it was very strange, and I played with the log-in screen for about 2 hours

to start from the beginning... I clicked on a button in the email to view the folder and brought me to screen to log in, which never happens as I am always logged in, then I logged in and it brought me to a business account I used over a year or more ago and automatically uploaded the files to their dropbox. I'm not the admin of this business account and did not have permission to edit or delete the files.

over the course of two hours I logged on over and over again and it would always log me out, then in the log-in screen would show the correct email/password and as soon as I would click on the log-in button, the email would change to business account email and log me into that account. I could actually see the email change after I clicked the log-in button.

I tried to delete myself or leave the business account group and couldn't, and only after attempting to log-in multiple times, it would take me to my correct dropbox account, but the same problem would happen after this and all day yesterday. It is working correctly today and I have done nothing to my browser, cache, settings...

I was able to do a workaround be finally logging into my correct account, creating a folder, and sharing that with my client and having them re-upload the files to the new folder.

the biggest problem was that it uploaded files to someone else's account, which upset me greatly.
