Lying email. Why do you say I have no space when I do?

Lying email. Why do you say I have no space when I do?

Explorer | Level 3

Hello everyone,,

I am using 2.81 GB of 6.75 GB so why did dropbox send this email-

This is a friendly reminder that your Dropbox is almost full! Sadly, it won't save any new changes until it's back in shape. Upgrade your Dropbox today and get up to 3 TB (3,000 GB) of space and powerful sharing features.

it might be their marketing algorithm, when you use 40%+ you get this message or something like that

Hey @Jinnoy, thanks for checking in with us!

As a first step, could you check if the email address that you received the notification for is the same as the one you're seeing you have plenty of free space on?

You can check this from:

  • Website - your General tab in your Settings.
  • Desktop app - Dropbox icon > avatar icon > Preferences > Account tab.
  • Mobile app - Account tab (iOS) or Settings (Android).

Let us know what you find!

This is certainly something they have just enabled. I've been over 80% for the last year and only just got this email today. I wouldn't mind so much, but the "Sadly, it won't save any new changes until it's back in shape" is a bit naughty and misleading!

A friend also got the same email this morning who is over 80% but nowhere near full. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets picked up by technical sites and receives some bad press.

If they had a plan between 2GB and 2TB I wouldn't have cancelled my subscription and moves to a better value competitor.

Hey @Stupots, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I just wanted to let you know that the team is aware of this and, for now, you can check your remaining space directly from the Plan tab

Thanks again!
