Hey there (@Djici), I appreciate your detailed description & thanks for taking the time to illustrate your point with these screenshots, this has been really helpful!

Since you’ve already tried to determine what’s happening on your end, let me send you some additional hints that could help you shed some light & we’ll take it from there.

For starters, your Account tab online is the most reliable point of reference when it comes to your space usage (i.e. in other words, it seems that you’re currently using 4,32/4,38 GBs). From there, I can see that you’re looking at the Properties of the “.dropbox” folder, which doesn’t refer to your Dropbox folder contents (as a whole) but rather pertains to a hidden system file which enables shared folders to work.

Hopefully this info is helpful to you, though I’m always here if you have further questions about any of the above, feel free to ping me back on this discussion & I’ll try to get back in touch with you soon!

Space apears to be full though I don't use all of it

New member | Level 2

The files on my folder, including personal and shared ones, add up to 5.2GB - as it apears on the desktop folder I have installed: Capture 1.JPG

and I have a total 7.25 GB space on my dropbox. On the "Personal Account" page online I get this: Capture.JPG

Why is that? where do the extra 2.5 GB come from? and how do I get rid of it?

I get the "your Dropbox is full!" notice, and cant'd sync anymore...

Thank you!

Hey @itailevy, I’ve moved your post under this discussion here, just in order to ping you on my first reply to the OP above, as the info you’re seeing on your account online should be the most accurate point of rereference. Would you mind having a look at my hints whenever you get a chance?

If you have more questions, please ping me back here & I’ll make sure to touch-base with you asap. Thanks!

Thank's for the quick response! and for the helpful information.

I understand the actual and accurate figure is the one online, but the real question is how do I locate and clean the extra storage space that's not accessible for me at the moment - the extra 2.5 GB I don't even know what's included in it content-wise.

where do I look for it? under what storage category? how can I see the details of that 7.79 GB of information I allegedly have on dropbox, in order to reorganize it as I truly need?

Thank you!

I have the same issue .... only bigger!  I'm trying to upload 1.3Gb to my Dropbox that is reporting 2.0Tb free, but getting a "Full" message.  How can this be?

Hey @dgilliesau, if you’ve upgraded your account, I’d suppose that you’re running out of disk space locally. Could this be happening by any chance? I’d appreciate a screenshot (omitting personal info), so as to further advise on the matter; please include it in your next message if possible.

Following, I appreciate it that you circled back to me @itailevy; I’d happily follow-up on your inquiries!

Kindly note that it would be best for you to check for the folder size on your account online Itai & use the info relayed there as a point of reference. From there, there’s some decision-making along the way, as you’d need to determine which files you wish to keep from there. The steps outlined below will help you with the folder calculation:

Spoiler
  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click Files.
  3. Click a column header and select Size.
  4. Hover over the folder and click the check box next the folder you're interested in.
  5. Click Calculate size in the right sidebar.
  6. Wait for the size to be calculated.
Hopefully this points you both towards the right direction & please do let me know how you get on with these steps in your next reply here!

@itailevy Thank you Jane, the space calculator is very helpful.

Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the space issue.

@dgilliesau

That's not an error from Dropbox. It's from your operating system, telling you that you don't have enough space available on your local drive (the drive where your Dropbox is located).

Remember, the Dropbox folder on your computer is not a cloud-based or networked folder. It's an actual folder, like any other on your computer, and anything you place in it takes up space on your local drive.
