My account is full, but I've deleted a lot of files

Why does my dropbox say i have run out of space when i had clearly removed almost a gig of data. I am still some how over the 2.5 minimum by .4 gigs. I am a little frustrated due to the urgency of uploading importing files.

So having permission to access another user's storage space counts toward my account's storage limit?

You don't have access to their space. You have access to the folders that are shared with you. When folders are shared with you they exist in your account, so they also take up your space.

For instance, a user who has 10Gb of data of stored on their account gives me access to view and edit their files stored on their space. That means that my account's storage space is now 8 Gb over limit?

Yes.

I'm encountering the same issue through a shared acount through my professor. I have uploaded maybe 200 Mb of material, but dropbox says I've exceeded my 2.5 Gb limit by 2 Gigs!?

So let me get this strait, if we share folders with another account owner, their data uploaded counts towards my accounts limit?
