My account's quota seems to have dropped. Any clues why?

Hi

When I signed up with Dropbox some 3 - 4 years ago, I was given a large amount of storage as an incentive.  Last year, I had to change my PC as my hard disk corrupted.  Ever since I have used my new PC, Dropbox is now telling me my files are full, and I am out of storage space!  I cannot reach anyone to verify my initial storage space given...   the dropbot doesn't understand the query!    Has anyone else had this problem when having to switch to another device?  I do use Google photos, but like the format of Dropbox and I find it more convenient

Dropbox often gives out temporary space increases (25gb for example with HP or Dell laptops) but these are always time limited - usually two years. Older ones include things like Samsung phones which gave 50gb, again, limited to a year.

My guess is your promo has just ran out. Whichever one you had.

Dropbox, as a company, have never ever given away huge amounts of space - even the oldest initial beta testers only got 5gb when signing up. They've always only offered two after that.

Go to https://www.dropbox.com/account , scroll down and click on 'Earnt Space' it will show you what space you earnt.

Note: this all assumes when you moved device you logged in to the same account and didnt accidentally set up a new one

Hi Mark

Thanks for the swift reply.  I was given an additional 31 gb in 2017....  but not sure why I was 'rewarded' with this amount!

The page I listed will show it.

You could get up to 32gb via referrals (in fact still can, but only on paid plans).

All other large increases are time limited.

Thanks Mark.  I think everything has expired!!  You're right - I can get extra space if I refer others, so will have to try that.....
