My account was reactivated without any action from me

New member | Level 2

Dropbox:
This morning at 3am, I received an email stating that my Dropbox account - which has been inactive for a year - was suddenly reactivated. I didn't request it, didn't expect it, and didn't do it. I'm trying to find out if this was an automatic thing that your service did, or if someone fraduently accessed my account.

Thanks,

~J. Smith

Hello @JoshuaAkaranSmith, I hope you're well today!

Did you perhaps take any of the actions outlined here?

If you believe that someone else could have accessed your account, then I can suggest checking your security page here for any suspicious looking sessions.

Let me know - thanks!

Hi Daphne,

Same thing happened to me today. I could not see any suspicious activity by the time I logged on but that could be because there is a button to remove said activity. It's strange how easy it was to reactivate my account after it has been closed.

Thanks for joining us here @qwerty6!

Taking one of these actions won't reactivate the account if it has already been closed, it will just let us know that you would like to keep the account active.

If you no longer need your account and would like to close it then you can manually delete the account. Once this is done though, please bear in mind that the account or its contents can't be recovered.

Otherwise, I'd suggest changing your password if you're concerned it was accessed by another person.

I hope this helps!
