My dropbox account is deleted

My dropbox account is deleted

Hello,
I have used dropbox for several years (my dropbox mail address was: [Removed as per Community Guidelines]).
The problem is that I cannot access my account since 2021. Sep. 2.
Resetting password did not work. (No e-mail was arrived from dropbox.)
Today, I tried to register dropbox account with the same mail address. Surprisingly, an account with the same mail address was created. Maybe my original account with my data file was deleted.
I want to restore my data and original account.
Thank you.

In that case, the account sounds like it was fully deleted, and this is a new account.

However, the team admin might still have the option to transfer your files on the deleted account to another member on the team, including the admin themselves.

That member could then share those files to you so you can download them or add them to your current account.

Hi @bjchoi, thanks for joining the Community!

As you were able to create an account with the same email, it means that the original account has been deleted from the system. In general, this means that it wouldn't be possible to restore the original account.

Was that previous account part of a Dropbox Business team, or was it a private, personal account?

This will help me to assist further!

Thank you for reply.

I was a member of Dropbox Business team.

I requested our team's administrator to downgrade my Dropbox Business account to Dropbox Plus using the following manual: (https://help.dropbox.com/ko-kr/accounts-billing/plans-upgrades/convert-individual-plan)

and our team's administrator follows the procedure stated in the above link.

Since then, I cannot access my account. I think there was an error when converting my account.

Those steps would convert a member on a Dropbox Business plan to a personal account away from the team.

If they didn't choose the option to 'Convert to individual Dropbox Basic account instead', then they would have deleted the account from the system completely.

Generally, the email is reserved for 7 days to allow the admin to recover the account

In the account you're logged into, is it definitely a brand new account with no files or events in the history?

Yes, the account I recently made with the same mail address is definitely a brand new account. Files as well as history(file events) do not exist.

Fortunately, I found that my team administrator has my deleted files, so I can download them and store those files on my new account.

Thank you for your help.

Typically, once an account has been deleted it's not possible to recover the account or the files that were in it. The exception to this is if you were a member of a Business team account, in which case the team admin can restore your account if it was deleted within the last seven days.

How, and when, was your account deleted?
