Problem: There was an error completing payment

I have tried to upgrade my account from the free version to Dropbox plus (by monthly payment) and keep receiving the error messages like "There was an error completing payment". I tried it with several browers such as Internet explorer, Chrome, firefox and so on. But it does not work at all. Any idea for this issue? It's quite urgent.

i am sure there was enough cash in my paypal, and tried again and again there is still error in paying..
this paypal account was used last year for paying dropbox and there is no problem..

Hey @phcmpc, thanks for joining us on the Community!

Since the error message you're getting is rather vague, can you try the following to see if there's any change:

  • Use another web browser
  • Use an incognito/private browsing window
  • Clear the browser cache

Please just attempt the payment once with each step as I wouldn't want you to end up with too many billing attempts and having to wait for a 24 hour period to try again.

Thanks for choosing Dropbox; let’s see what we can do here. 
 
Generally speaking, we don't get to see the reason why a credit card charge has failed, as the banks keep that hidden to protect your privacy. 
 
It would be worth checking whether you can complete the payment with a different credit card/payment method, however if you can’t switch to a different one, you’d have to contact your bank. 
 
I hope that this clarifies matters for you to a certain extent!
