Question about the Family Plan

Question about the Family Plan

Hi,

I'd like to know if 6 users (basic account) being invited to Family Plan can log in as many devices as they want?

Does it means after they accept the invitation to Family Plan,  their basic account will become family plan account? Their accounts (6 users) will enjoy all benefits of Family Plan account as listed in this link (https://www.dropbox.com/plans) , is it correct? .

Thanks!

Hi @Yuki5, thanks for joining the Community!

Essentially, when you join a Family plan, you get a Plus account with all the additional features it includes, and an unlimited number of device connections.

The only difference to a normal Plus plan is that the quota is shared among the whole family group, and that you get a shared Family Room folder that other members can access.

If you need any more details, feel free to message back!

Hi,

Yesterday I wrote of the possibility of my Daughter filling her space with photos of her painted toe nails <G> OK, she's only got 10 but her mates on (un)social media have probably got 10 as well.. you see where this is going? Lovable puppies, cute kittens, pictures of the Grandkids... no wait, that'll be OK, according to my wife.

Hey with a handle like Albert Firkettle you've gotta have a sense of yuma.

Back to work- I've looked everywhere and although it's made clear that the Family offering includes 2Tb I can find no reference as to how that is split up.

Could you give me a breakdown please?

@AlbertFirkettle

Its just a generic plan across all connected accounts and I do not believe its possible to allocate quotas to individuals. You can, however, see it as per https://help.dropbox.com/accounts-billing/plans-upgrades/manage-family-plan#check

Sorry Mark that doesn't answer my question. I'll try again...

The Family Plan has 2TB total storage space between 6 members and a 'Family Room'. The owner/fee payer cannot choose who has what space apparently so, how much space is allocated, by Dropbox, to each member and how much to the Family Room?

Hey @AlbertFirkettle and thanks for commenting here.

Like @Mark mentioned, on the Family plan, it is not currently possible to allocate a specific amount of quota to the members, nor is it allocated by default.

All files added to the plan (by any member) count against the 2 TB the plan offers.

For example, say that you have two family members. One could add 500 GB and the other 1.5 TB. Or one could add 1 TB and the other 1 TB.

I hope this helps clarify things.
