SCAM via DROPBOX

SCAM via DROPBOX

New member | Level 2

I just received and email to my gmail account with the subject of "Account Payable sent you Contract_Invoice_Authorize_Payment.pdf" and the sender link was titled "(ksanders@arizonatrechcompany.com) ". I would suggest that DROPBOX has been hacked and our personal information is being used to send out fake invoices to unsuspecting users.

No. It hasnt.

It is a spam email like you'll get hundreds of a year. People simply forge who they are coming out from and send them to people.

I have a customer that has received a couple of these as well and they are not typical SPAM emails.  They are being sent from Amazon IP Addresses: 54.240.60.167 and 54.240.60.154 which resolve to addresses included in the SPF record for dropbox.com.

"v=spf1 ip4:45.58.64.0/20 ip4:185.45.8.0/22 ip4:162.125.0.0/16 ip4:199.47.216.0/22 ip4:108.160.160.0/20 ip4:205.189.0.0/25 ip6:2001:470:841d::/64 ip6:2620:C6:8000::/48 ip4:160.34.15.16/28 ip4:52.5.134.202"
" include:amazonses.com include:_spf.google.com include:mail.zendesk.com include:mktomail.com include:_spf.salesforce.com ~all"

They appear as legitimate emails and they are being sent from no-reply@dropbox.com from the IP address mentioned above and have been passing the SPAM filter.

Try sending them to Amazon for them to look at.
