Selectively Unsynced folders still taking up space on hard drive

New member | Level 2

I just selectively uninstalled all the folders on my hard drive because I want them in dropbox but not on my computer. The problem is they are still taking up space and when I right click and choose Get Info it still shows that it's using 12GB of disk space. They foldres have grey minus icons near them so they are not synced. Why then are they still on my machine?

Any other way to have my dropbox online remain complete but all dropbox files on my computer wiped?

Hey @Ruchiccio, from what I gather from your description, the gray circle icon with a minus sign indicates that you’ve created a folder with the same name and in the same location as an unsynced folder, meaning that this folder also takes up space locally.

Kindly note that at this point there’s some decision-making involved. Would you mind checking back on your folder structure to see whether these are mere duplicates or it would be best to consolidate the files you need from both places within your existing folder tree? You can easily do that by viewing the contents of your Selectively Synced folders online & cross-checking with the ones on your desktop side-by-side.

Please have a look at my suggestions at your earliest convenience & let me know how you get on with my advice or if I’ve misunderstood your question in any way on our discussion here. Thanks in advance!
