Still trying to update email aaddy

So I followed Lusll's advice, easy & sensible, which makes me wonder why the tech @ "Customer Support" didn't explain it that easily.

Followed the steps.  Fail!  When I entered the new email, pw, & submit, was told (in red letters) that email is already taken.  Tried 2x just to be sure.

Well, yes, it's my new email.  I have taken it.  

But I did not change it, I used it when I contacted CS, someone on that end must have changed it, or the program changed it.  But now?  I can't use it.

It terrifies me to sign out, and potentially not be able to EVER access my account again.  And the idea that all my data/back-ups, etc., could be lost forever, makes me sick at my tummy.

There has to be a solution here - simply updating my email addy should be this hard.

You cannot update an email address if somebody already has that account - as its saying. So somewhere somebody has set up a Dropbox account already with your email. 

You will need to go to that account and either delete it, or, change the email on it there to 'free' it up and use it on your current account. 

Use an icognito window/another browser (as long as Dropbox isnt installed) and go to www.dropbox.com/forgot. Use the email you are saying isnt working. Reset the password on it and then log in via the incognito window to see what is there. Then delete it or change the email on that account. 

Once you've done that you can use it on the account you are logged in on now.
