I am unable to sign-in to my Dropbox account due to an older number being within it. I no longer have access to such and required it to be switched somehow to regain access.

You had two-step verification enabled on your account? If so, and if you no longer have the same number, you'll need to use the emergency backup codes you were given when you enabled two-step verification.
Unfortunately, that code has been lost during the years. I must replace and repair any damage that has been done.
