I'd swear when I signed up years ago for a free DB account they said I get 5gb free. Now when I look at my account bc they email to say I am almost full, suddenly I only have 2.75 GB total space. I've searched for answers with no luck. Can someone tell me what I missed? Thanks!

Dropbox has always only ever given away 2gb for free without referrals etc. - I think you are getting mixed up with Box.com which I believe does a 5gb free account.
