Why do different Dropbox Basic accounts have different quota?

New member | Level 2

Used Dropbox Free with several participants. On one account it shows a place of 3.2 GB, on another 2.8 GB. Why a different amount of space on accounts?

Thanks for getting back to me here @Stanislav_P!

Is it possible that you were using another account previously that you had earned more space on?

Could you check your Plan page here and let me know if you see any helpful info under the "Earn more space" section that could explain this?

If an account is over the space limit, it's most likely due to the account being upgraded previously or on a free trial where there was more space associated with the account, and upon downgrading became over the space limit.

Otherwise, the account could have had a promotion for extra space which expired and the account was using more space than the limit.

Let me know what you find!

Hey there @Stanislav_P, thanks for reaching out to us here!

When you first create a Basic account, you will have 2 GB of space. However, there are some ways to actually earn some more space for your account.

You can check out these options from here.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the answer.
I have already completed the tasks to increase the space. We have a dropbox used by several people with different accounts, they show the available space of 3.2 GB, it shows me 2.8 GB. Previously, I had as much space as theirs, but now it has decreased. At the moment, he writes that the place is over and filled 108%. How can it be?

You are right, probably the validity period of the extra space has expired. Thanks you.
