storing sensitive files ~ Can you lock Dropbox separately on your devices?

New member | Level 2

I use my dropbox account for work and to store my bosses sensitive files. Is there a way to lock dropbox separately on my computer or on my other devices? My computer has a password and so does my phone but I would like to be able to independently lock dropbox.

If that is not possible is it worth using a third party vault or something i can actually lock and then store that within dropbox? If something like that exists? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi there @gossamertatters! Currently, locking the Dropbox folder, such as password-protecting it, isn’t currently an option.

Initially, please keep in mind that the Dropbox folder is like any other folder on your computer, but with syncing features. For this reason, password protecting your devices is definitely good practice. For more info on how to protect your Dropbox account, see this article

Finally, as you also mention, I’d recommend checking out via any search engine for any potential third-party applications that might offer what you’re referring to.

Hope this helps to some extent, and if you’ve got any more questions, don’t hesitate to let me know in your next post here. In the mean time, have a wonderful day ahead!
