two drop box accounts - wish to separate and keep separate

two drop box accounts - wish to separate and keep separate

Hello all,

I have two drop box accounts (account A and account B) and unknowingly linked them together (not sure of correct terminology) so that they are accessible in one shortcut folder on my desktop. For example, I click to open this shortcut folder to see both dropbox accounts/files (A&B).

This was good for a while until I learned that I have run out of space (account B). I really don't know how I got account A and account B into one shortcut folder -or- how I account A into account B (if that makes sense)

do know it has effected the available space in account B (out of space).

Account A in this desktop shortcut (that again, reflects the two accounts) is 'up-to-date'

Account A - when logged into a web browser and into Account A's files (dropbox.com) indicates account A has not been updated since Jan 2020.

  • My goal is to keep these two accounts separate to use the free space given by dropbox, on their own.

If I can have easy desktop access to them - that would be great - if this 'easy access' has to be in the form of two shortcuts, that is just as good!

  1. I don't know how to update the out of date account.
  2. I believe once that account reflects all the new data - how would I remove account A from account B's memory (again, wrong terminology)?

I hope this makes sense. Forgive me for not knowing the correct terminology and process. I look forward to any assistance you may have for me.

Thank you for all you do!

Hey @2061Steinway, thanks for posting today!

It sounds like you have paired your Dropbox Business account and your personal account.

You can follow the steps here, to unlink them and keep them separate.

Keep in mind, though, that once you disconnect them, the account that was added second, will be unlinked and you won't be able to use both accounts from the same computer anymore.

Only the first account that was linked to the computer will stay linked.

Let me know if you have any questions!
