Smart Sync is simply not working at all on Windows 10 - dropbox is insisting on trying, and failing, to download files I don't want here whatever I do. When I try to select Online Only from the right menu on a folder, I get a circular "thinking cursor" for a while; then if I right click again the whole Smart Sync menu has disappeared; then if I close that File Explorer window and navigate to the folder again, it is still set to Local. I've tried stopping and restarting Dropbox. Must I reinstall yet again? If I do will it help? I'm paying for Dropbox and this is really putting me off. I see people complaining about problems like this going back a long time now.
I apparently need to enter this as a reply since I don't have the credentials needed to enter it as a new topic, despite what pay for this service each year!
Today I note that the tray icon will no longer invoke Dropbox, as it's done for years. I can only get to files via a desktop shortcit to the db folder.
Upon checking the versions, I discover that I'm using 88.3.161 which is a BETA version. Apparently, this was auto-istalled (updated) on 17 Dec 2019. I tried to uninstall it and the uninstalled failed. I tried to install 87.4.138 (last stable build) and that too failed. I'm kind of in limbo here; not sure if I can trust Dropbox, and every file I have/need is out there.
I'd really appreciate some counseling. I don't WANT to be using beta anything at this stage in my life. How can I get back to the current stable build?
