Account got factory reset?

Account got factory reset?

skeske
Explorer | Level 3

Last year I got a number of emails telling me my account (connected to a Gmail) was almost full and that I should upgrade my plan. When I used the same account to log in to my account (using the Gmail shortcut and typing the full email and password), I found that all of the files, personal and shared, were not there.

Did my account get a factory reset somehow? Is it because one of the shared folders from work got deleted and maybe it wiped everything?

As it has data listed in there then it hasnt been deleted, however, what it does show is that any data in the account was removed over 6 months ago (it only lists files that are under 180 days).

So, something, at some point, has deleted all your files - a rouge set up on a computer? external drive?

How long ago is it since you last logged in @skeske ? If its over 12 months its highly likely your account has actually been closed and you've now signed up/opened a new account.

You can get an idea if this has happened by looking at www.dropbox.com/events

It says 12/3/2020 I removed my access to a shared folder. That's the first and only account activity. I remember early in 2020, my boss shared a folder with me in this account but my account was already so full that I could not access the Shared Folder (the same one referenced in the first sentence). I do not remember personally removing access to this folder.

I was accessing files last year for work... I don't know what happened.

It wasn't an external drive - I guess that means there is no way to get back the files? They were not in the deleted folder.

Thank you all for your help!
