After removing dropbox files inaccessible.

After removing dropbox somefiles have a grey x over them and I can not access them, says something like file location not found? I have reinstalled drop box and they come back but how do I get rid of drop box and keepmy files?

Are you getting this error on a Windows or Mac device when attempting to preview the files?

Do you have a paid Dropbox account? When you reinstall the Dropbox desktop application, do these files have a green tick on them, or a grey cloud icon?

I used to have a paid account. The files have a grey X over them when I delete drop box. When I add drop box back on the free version they have the green tick. But How do I get my files off of Dropbox nd delete dropbox?

If you used to have a paid account, then is it possible that these files were online-only files using Smart Sync?

If you right click the files with a grey X, are you able to see an option for Smart Sync, to mark the files as local?
