All shared files inaccessible - 404

All shared files inaccessible - 404

I have hundreds of files shared on dropbox. Out of the blue, none of them can be accessed.

I have verified that the files exist. I have verified that the files are still shared - view to everyone. However, the files can longer be accessed by external users. Prior to this afternoon, the files have been shared and used for the last year.

Has anyone seen this behavior?

Aha, I figured out what was the problem. I wrote to customer support, it turns out that dropbox will ban you if your shared file(s) pull too much data.

It was probably recent MOV files I was sharing. They refreshed my account and all is good again.

The message from customer support:
If you have made no changes, 404 usually is indicative of a ban of those links from working due to potentially one of the bullet points below.

The possible reason(s) for the ban could be as follows…

    1. The link or request generated a large amount of traffic.
    2. The link or request exceeded our bandwidth or download limits
    3. The link or request went to copyright content.

Hey @abelsan, thanks for reaching out!

I'm happy to see you were able to get support about your shared link issue.

Keep an eye out for your bandwidth limits when sharing links and you'll be good to go.
