Business and Personal log in and security

New member | Level 2
New member | Level 2

My wife was recently a victim of a fraudulent sim swap with her phone. It took several hours for us to regain control of her phone by replacing it with another sim card and transferring the service back to her.  During the fraudulent activity it was observed under 'activity' that our business/personal dropbox was logged in to. This was using my wifes personal drop box log in information. We now believe that, as my wife was an admin to the business account, the scammer got access to all our information in our business account. Whilst we now know that we had further options for security it does seem unacceptable that a personal log in gave upwards access to a business dropbox.

Hi @Phil55, welcome to the Community.

Thank you for checking in about this and I am sorry to read about the experience you had.

In regards to connecting a personal and business account, this is a feature explicitly offered in order for users to easily switch between accounts without additional effort. Afterall the mobile app cannot distinguish between users, be they the original owner or a 3rd party, and so would allow access in as much as the account owner had enabled it.

However, we do also offer additional security options as you correctly mentioned; such as remotely unlinking devices directly from the account's Security settings on the website, or enabling Two-Factor-Authentication on the mobile app.

Rest assured that content cannot be permanently deleted via the mobile app, and so any actions or deletions you may want to undo can be restored via the Events page of the account. You can review your account's restoration window here.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions - or ideas - and I'll be happy to assist.

Thanks!
