CANNOT ACCESS FILES ON MY MAC SINCE DELETING DROPBOX

CANNOT ACCESS FILES ON MY MAC SINCE DELETING DROPBOX

New member | Level 2

Hi,

I downloaded DropBox on my Mac this moring, and I believe I turned on smart sync for my 'Document' folder on my Mac. I had DropBox installed for only 20 mins on this device before deciding that it was going to take up too much space on my computers hard drive. I then decided to remove DropBox from my Mac. I believe that I may have done this inncorrectly. Since deleting DropBox from my Mac, I am unable to access any of the files which were in the 'Document' folder which I syned. When I attempt to open a file, an error message is shown saying that I do not have access. When I click on grant access, another error message is shown saying that the user does not have access priviledges to the file.

How do I fix this and gain access to my files?!

Thank you.

Hi @stebatch; thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

In order to fix this, you'll need to re-install the app on your computer and from there, disable the computer backup feature using these steps

Let me know how it goes!
