Can I use an existing Dropbox folder when reinstalling the app?

Explorer | Level 3

Hi! Why can't we reuse an already existing Dropbox Folder? This was possible with the older versions but not with the newer versions. Can this be fixed?

Hi @HarmPeter, thanks for joining the Community!

Are you connecting to the same Dropbox account, or to a different account?

If it’s the same account, you should be able to do so when installing the Dropbox desktop application, and in the Advanced settings before clicking ‘Open your Dropbox folder’, you can change the location.

Make sure to choose the parent folder above the Dropbox folder. For instance, if the folder is located in E:\Files\Dropbox, select E:\Files for the location.

If the app confirms the same account folder is there, it will simply need to re-index it and sync any changed files.

Hope this helps!
