We uploaded a lot of files into our dropbox, when I open them in our macbook it works but when we try to open them in out IMac it doesn't seem to work and we aren't sure why. They are keynote and pages documents straigh from the apple apps.

Hey there,

Thank you for asking this question in the Community.

With regards to viewing files on both computers I would suggest you do the following.

  1. Make sure that both computers are up to date (System Preferences --> Software Update), or if it is pre macOS Mojave on both of these computers, then open the App Store, and install all system updates.
  2. Since you uploaded the files from your MacBook Pro they are going to be visible there as that was the source device, so the only thing you might need to do is give it a bit more time
  3. I would suggest to sign-in to https://www.dropbox.com/ from the iMac on Safari, and see if you can preview the file on the webpage from the iMac
  4. If step number 3 was successful, then just update the Dropbox Desktop App on the iMac, and hopefully that will resolve your issue.

I hope that helps?

Thank you for getting back to me.

So if the app doesn't work on the iMac, then I would still suggest checking the device first for updates.

As sometimes version mismatch can cause issues.

Also, just to make sure that the download is from a reliable source, try downloading and installing the Desktop app from the following link.

https://www.dropbox.com/downloading

If it still doesn't work for some reason, I would suggest an 'Advanced Reinstall' of the application, please find the support article below:

Let us know how that turns out?!
