Can't change install location of desktop app

Can't change install location of desktop app

Explorer | Level 4

I have had Dropbox on my desktop computer for years on partition D: . I noticed today that it simply hasn't been syncing stuff for the past few months; if I drop a file on D:/Dropbox, it does not show up on the dropbox.com website, meaning it's not syncing with the cloud. The little green checkmark near the file icons is absent as well, confirming this assessment.

The app is set to start with Windows normally, but when running its .exe, nothing happens. I figured a Windows 10 update must have made the app incompatible, so I re-downloaded and ran the setup. Right away it warned me I was over the 3-device limit for my free plan (strange...), so I unsynced my laptop. Now it's telling me it needs 23 GB but there is insufficient space on my computer (12 GB), but that's the space left on drive C, not D. The app offers me no option to change the location of the Dropbox folder.

How can I make sure the app uses the same folder it had already been using before on drive D?

Side note: Reinstalling the app has ALWAYS been a massive pain. It has NEVER properly identified previous Dropbox folders; it has always overwritten everything on the previous folder (instead of just downloading the new files), or downloaded all the files anew to a different folder, leaving my computer with two Dropbox folders. And this has been going on for years. Why is the app so gosh darn bad?

Hey there @Érico C. - I'd be happy to help look into this with you.

Since you've mentioned that you've made sure that you have less than three devices already syncing, could you try an advanced reinstall and see if that does the trick?

Note that the eighth step mentions that, for this process, if you wish to avoid re-downloading your Dropbox content, you will need to manually choose the location for the Dropbox folder during the installation.

Let me know how it goes, cheers!
