Can't open txt file within zip file on android

Explorer | Level 4

Hi. There are many threads that mention this but none are quite right.  How do I open an encrypted text (txt) file within a zip file in drop box?  It asks for password, then nothing happens?

Where are off-line files stored? (perhaps I can open it if I can navigate to it with winzip)

Help please?

Hello there @A_M, let's have a look into this!

Perhaps you can try exporting the file to the winzip app with the steps outlined here. Since files that are made available offline are stored within the Dropbox app, this would be the best way to open the file through another app on your device.

Let me know how this goes and we can go from there - thanks!

Nice idea thanks Daphne. Unfortunately it doesn't help. So seems to be a WinZip issue. Google files can't do it either.

I'm sorry to hear that this didn't work out for you @A_M!

The alternative that I could suggest would be to re-upload the data into Dropbox without it being encrypted/zipped. I understand that this might not be the answer you were looking for, perhaps there are some other users here who could suggest some third party apps that you could use to open these files successfully on your mobile device.

If you have any other questions about this then please just give me a nudge here and I'll be more than happy to help.

Have a great day - thanks!

Thanks again, Daphne.  The odd thing is that I can open the zip file on my PC and I can open any other zipfile on my Android.  And it used to work. So either dropbox is corrupting the file, or the latest winzip for android is the problem.  I supposed I could xfer the file without using dropbox and see if it works. I'll try that and let you know .
