Changing the folders that are on desktop app

Changing the folders that are on desktop app

New member | Level 2

Hi Drop Box Community,

I recently had to get a new laptop #2020 and when I set up drop box account I accidentally chose the wrong folders to be on the desktop app and now I would like to edit that.  I can't for te life of me understand how without uninstalling the entire thing?

Thank you

Hi Chloe!

You can try these steps:

  1. Open the Dropbox app,
  2. Go to the very top left and click on the icon with 3 horizontal lines besides "Dropbox"
  3. Hover your mouse over "File" and click "Preferences"
  4. It'll open a new window and there are 7 icons from "General" to "Sync". Click on "Sync"
  5. Under "Dropbox folder location", you can click "Move" and you can select the file folder you want
  6. Afterwards, there are 3 buttons under "Sync" ("Ok", "Cancel", "Apply") and you can click "Apply" at the bottom

Let me know how it goes!

Hi @ChloeJackmanPhotos, I just wanted to check with you if you are referring to moving the Dropbox folder itself, or if you accidentally synced all of your Dropbox content locally?
