This happens every so often and I have no idea why. This last one, everyone was out of the office at a conference, so there was no way it could happen? The email address seems ligit: firstname.lastname@example.org . I don't see 1754 deleted files? I've tried to read online and can't really find a good answer.
Hey @Button, thanks for checking in with us on the Dropbox Community!
As a first step, could you have a look at your events page and see if there's any relevant info regarding these deletions?
Let me know what you find!
There are lots of files I recognize, but there are lots of files I don't know what they are:
.apfold; funky file names like s6wB5N2GRPsi+7jcrAfARg; thumb_IMG files, Properties.apdb-journal files; DataModelVersion.plist file, Library.pdb files, tmSync.plist (494 files) ...
Thanks for checking that out for me, @Button.
It looks like these may be metadata files of other systems and/or third party apps that were synced.
If you'd like to have a better look into this, you could always contact our Support team who'd be able to further investigate.
In the meantime, if you have any other questions, just give me a shout and I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Cheers!
Thank you. Is there a way to tell which 3-rd party app they are associated with? A way to adjust settings? Or does it matter if the app is just 'tidying up'. I just don't want to lose information on a computer-driven auto-delete.
You can have a quick look through the web and look the file extensions for each one.
For example, I found that a .plist file is a settings file used by macOS apps, which contains properties and configuration settings for various programs.
Although this doesn't offer much, I hope it helps to some extent.
If you still have trouble with this or you have any other questions, just give me a shout and I'll make sure to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks!
